DIMENSION Magazine was launched in the Fall 2022 semester. It highlights stories and news featuring the students, faculty, staff, and alumni of the Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design.

In my role, I designed and laid out the magazine while assisting with pitching feature story ideas.

The inaugural issue has also received a Council for Advancement and Support of Education Circle of Excellence Gold Award and an EduAdAwards Gold Award.

In collaboration with the Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design’s programs committee, I designed the wordmark and marketing materials for the college’s 2023-2024 lecture series.

This included posters, animated graphics, and digital media assets.

The Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design 2020-2022 Annual Report encompasses the college’s successes and noteworthy events through the COVID-19 pandemic.

I worked on designing the report and assisted with proofing the contents. It has also earned a Collegiate Advertising Awards Silver Award in 2023.

As the Creative Director of Pilates Style, a national consumer magazine with print and digital editions, I spearhead the overall art direction and conceptualize and design the covers and editorial pages each issue.

Here, a curated selection of covers and layouts that display a variety of content, from front-of-the-book product roundups to feature stories.

My robust role at the bimonthly Chile Pepper magazine not only demands creative direction and conceiving of editorial layouts, but it also includes recipe development and writing, food styling and photography.

In addition to designing covers for H Texas, a luxury-lifestyle title, I regularly photograph celebrity covers, including actors Sean Patrick Flanery and Tim Jo, as well as Houston Texans’ player Kareem Jackson.

I also work directly with our advertising team and professional clients, including some of the most notable doctors, lawyers and business owners in Houston, to create advertorial profiles for our Top Professionals section each issue.

The Provost Distinguished Speaker Series highlights a remarkable individual with a powerful story to tell. The speaker for 2021 is Nadia Murad, an activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner. I took a narrative approach in creating a digital artwork to highlight some of her powerful quotes. Here are two version of e-mail header banners and digital signage graphics.

A series of digital signage produced to promote the Health Professions Fair to undergrad students across campus.

This event started as a series of evening receptions to honor faculty for their achievements in national recognition through their work and research at the university. Unfortunately, the pandemic interrupted the events and it later became a virtual ceremony. Here are a series of e-mail header graphics, banner designs for in-person meetings and digital signs.

International Education Week marked a weeklong series of events produced by UH Global and the International Students & Scholar Services Office. Here are examples of an e-mail header graphic, digital sign and social media post.

UHin4 is a program targeted toward freshmen students to help them plan to graduate in 4 years. Here are some e-mail header graphics and an informational flyer that briefly outlines the benefits of joining UHin4.

The CITE program at the University of Houston encourages students and faculty to take part in co-curricular activities. Here is an informational flyer and a set of graphics to promote the CITE Co-Curricular Conversations series.

These website slider images showcased new and limited edition flavors that Blue Bell released on a monthly or seasonal basis.

Amazing Place is a facility in Houston that offers resources and day programs for people with dementia. This brochure folder was created to showcase the organization’s services.

Designed the logo for STX Beef Co which stands for South Texas Beef Company during my time at Richards/Carlberg.

MyDrinkBomb.com is a company that sells drink bobs that fizz and add tasty cocktail flavors (as well as color and 24k gold in some cases) to beverages. I designed the website logo for MyDrinkBomb.com based on two existing product logos. To introduce new flavors, I also worked on festive and fun animated gifs for use in e-mails and on social media. I’ve also worked on some styling and product photography for the company.

As the Pilates Style platform has grown, I’ve collaborated with the editors to design a series of branded products for sale on the magazine’s website. I’ve conceived and created the original artwork printed on exercise mats, apparel and posters.

The T-shirt concept was based on the spiraling yellow brick road from the Wizard of Oz. It begins with a quintessential Pilates exercise called the Hundred, and moves through the rest of the repertoire on the mat, eventually leading to Hilary’s provided logo.

I illustrated and designed this poster as a part of the UHGap and Houston Zoo’s Mane Event fundraiser.

My poster highlights this Texan bird and was selected for auction to help raise money for conservation efforts.

These ads were produced for Dr. Guy M. Lewis, a top dentist in Houston. I worked closely with his marketing team to create these layouts using provided copy and photos. I also designed the “Celebrating 30 Years” logo mark to commemorate his practice’s Pearl Anniversary.

The ads appeared in several local publications as well as in airline magazines.

Designed for a professional resume-writing and career-coaching business, these logos were inspired by a compass tattoo and the client’s personal meaning behind it. The final logo is shown at the top, and the different processes and iterations are below.

I converted the Iconstrux website, which was a mish-mash of dated HTML and flat jpg images, into a Wordpress-based portfolio. This reduced visual clutter and gave the client an easy way of updating their content while making all of the text searchable and SEO-compatible. This new version was also customized from a theme and optimized for mobile.
